Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, I’m currently teaching English literature and culture at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (Høgskulen på Vestlandet) in Bergen, Norway. My main academic research interests are nineteenth-American literature, women writers, and regionalism. My work-in-progress project chronicles the literary output of working-class culture in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the end of the nineteenth century to reassess cultural narratives about literary production outside of the cultural elite.
I am also interested in higher education pedagogy. This interest spans from a co-edited collection on teaching writing in the Caribbean, which stems from my time teaching at the University of the Bahamas, to the group blog Pedagogy and American Literary Studies (PALS), where we write about issues related to teaching American literary studies, broadly conceived.
